MLB World Series
The largest baseball stage, a stage where every player can make a difference, a stage where every pitch and every bat matters. A showdown between teams where you must win 4 out of 7 games to advance, where every inning the stadium pulses with screams and cheering. A showdown between the Blue Jays and the Los Angeles Dodgers, where 2 enter and 1 ends victorious.
The Mariners
After many years of depression and a season full of excitement, the Mariners went on to their first World Series after 24 years. The hype was on fans where excited expectations were high, and Seattle felt on top after many games won and going so far in a championship. Fast forward to now, however, this all changed once the Blue Jays won their first match against them, and after that, their confidence was sky high as they went on to give the Mariners a very hard time in this World Series. After a prolonged 7 games of being tied up against the Mariners ended up losing. The downfall of these losses where their pitchers, despite leading almost every game, their pitchers were what brought them down and cost them their lead. After the loss, many fans were disappointed with the outcome and loss, as many had very high expectations and their hopes up high for the Mariners to go on to the final and face the Dodgers.
What team do Mariners fans root for now to win the World Series?
As a former New York Yankees fan, after a staggering loss to the Dodgers in the last World Series, after the Yankees were leading, everything went downhill as they switched the pitcher, from having a very high lead of 6 to losing it ending their hopes of a world series, I myself am rooting for the Blue Jays to win simply for that reason. However, what do PHS teachers and students who are Mariners fans root for to win? Or will they simply lose interest in the World Series? Ms. Mathews says, “My heart is broken by the Mariners losing that I simply can’t watch baseball right now, and that I wish they would both lose.”
In addition, PHS teacher Mr. Mezger said, “I am heartbroken, and I hope both teams lose.” Both of these teachers showed how much this loss meant to them, expressed by their similar comments.
Further more I asked one of my friends who is a Huge Mariners fan when asked whether he will lose interest in the world series or will root for another team “I am very disappointed with the Mariners losing I had my hopes up high, I however I want the Dodgers to beat the Blue Jays” PHS Junior student said, a Sophomore student also said “My family is a huge Mariners fan and after the lost we completely lost interest in the world series” Furthermore, we can see how disappointed Mariners fan were after this major lost, many loosing interest and many rooting for the Dodger against the Blue Jays.
After this loss, many Mariners fans are disappointed; however, they have been able to reflect on what the team’s potential may be for the near future. The loss will truly be a memorable one for the records, as the Mariners being this close to a World Series had a whole load of fans cheering and full of joy and hope. The team may have lost, but fans still have hope in the near future for a surprising season to come. Overall, these past few games were a joy to watch; the feeling of excitement watching a team that never went this far try their absolute hardest in baseball’s major stage.
