Suicide Awareness Month
September is Suicide Awareness Month. If you, or someone you know is in need of help, guidance, or just in need of someone to talk to then there are numerous support numbers out there. They are listed below. The Wasco website has also included a tab under “School Info” titled “Mental Health Resources.”
911– If you’re contemplating hurting yourself or others, it’s considered an emergency and 911 is always available
1-800-273-8255: National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is open 24/7 to provide confidential emotional support and additional resources. Not just for people having suicidal thought, but also for people struggling with anxiety and/or panic disorder. Also offers chat/messaging options.
877-565-8860: Trans Lifeline run by trans people for trans, nonbinary, and questioning people. Confidential. Line is not exclusive to crisis, you can call if you just need someone to talk to and they’ll also connect you to local/online resources. No non-consensual emergency help (police/ambulances).
741741: Crisis Text Line offers support 24/7 to help with anxiety attacks and panic attacks. They can also help build a plan for next time you have an attack. Just text anything to that number.
