A chick flick is a film genre catered specifically to women’s interests and is marketed towards women demographics. They generally tend to appeal more to a younger female audience and deals mainly with love and romance.

Despite “chick flicks” being aimed towards women, many can acknowledge how incredible some of these iconic movies are, despite gender. The movies will generally empower women and be funny while motivational. So here is a review of my top 4 favorite chick flicks of all time with their best quotes.

Legally Blonde

This movie is well known and, in my opinion, one of the funniest, most inspiring movies ever.

The movie is about a young woman named Elle Woods. She is very intelligent and beautiful and incredibly interested in fashion. She goes throughout the movie trying to win back a stupid boy who she thinks is the love of her life. She gets into Harvard and slowly but surely proves everyone wrong. She proves that no matter how pretty and how blonde she is, she is also smart and entirely capable of being successful and intelligent. She soon realizes that she didn’t need a boy to be happy but instead, needed to believe in herself to see how incredible she is.

This movie follows the story and life of a teenage girl, named Viola who really loves soccer. Soccer is her passion, but her team gets cut. To continue playing and prove she’s good enough to play with the boys, she poses as her brother and pretends to be a boy. This obviously comes with its own issues but in the end, she proves that girls aren’t inferior to boys, and deserve to be valued just as much.

This movie is incredibly popular and hilarious. If you haven’t seen this movie, you’re missing out. It exaggerates high school girl drama in the largest extent. It has some moments that are so messed up, you can’t help but laugh. In the end though, it reminds everyone that there is more to living than popularity, status, and looks. Life is about being kind and giving back, without taking things from others or putting people down.

This movie is also very popular and funny. The main character Cher is rich, shallow, and socially successful. She views herself as a matchmaker and goes throughout the movie setting teachers up and giving students makeovers. In the end, we all learn that it can be easy to be so focused on our own world, that we become totally clueless to the rest of the world and its problems.
