When you look at Freshmen and Seniors, the one significant difference we see is grade and age, but have you ever tried to dig deeper? Like, what is on your mind, dude? One thing that gets overlooked is how the freshmen and seniors see each other, and what they think about each other. This is what a few Freshmen and Seniors had to say about one another.
We asked Freshman Elisa Rafael some questions about the Current class of 2025 seniors here at PHS, and this is what she said. “Many of them have good leadership skills and I am happy to look up to many of this year’s seniors.”
When we asked Senior Angel Cordoba, he said, “Most of them are cool, and they look up to seniors. I don’t know much, so I can’t say much about what I like about them, but I like how they care for other people.” Good things we are hearing so far, good to hear and see that we are looking up to each other here at PHS. To wrap up this question, we also asked senior Erin Castro what he thought about this year’s freshman class, and he told us.
“From the very few freshmen I’ve interacted with here, they seem nice, they’re also adapting to a new environment, so I cut them some slack.” Great way to see the freshman, Erin! Keeping the good spirits going, we also asked Erin if he felt respected as a senior here at PHS, and he told us, “I think I am respected as a senior, especially by the underclassmen who seem to look up to the seniors.”
When we asked Elisa if she felt respected as a freshman at PHS, she said, “I feel like I am respected since, for the most part, they don’t look at your age or grade; they look at how you act towards others.” This is an excellent observation, and it is true, but it applies to everyone. Treat others how you want to be treated, and you’ll find amazing friends and a community.
We moved on to a different question and asked Angel what he likes about this year’s freshmen. He said, “I don’t know many freshmen to say what I like about them, but from what I’ve seen, I like how they care for each other.” Preach it! We are a community at Pasco High, and we should all look out for each other!
For this question, we asked what Elisa likes about the seniors this year, and she said, “I like how you can peacefully talk to a senior and have a wonderful conversation without feeling judged. Also, the advice is good.” It’s good to have someone to talk to without feeling judged, and you can find that with anyone here at Pasco High. This school is packed with good people and amazing friends.
On a less joyful note, we asked Erin a rather tricky question: What is something you dislike about the freshmen this year? Erin said, “One thing I dislike about the freshmen is that they can be rather childish at times. Since they just got out of middle school, they have the mentality of a young teenager.” This is true, but this can apply to everyone here at PHS, or at least a good handful.
We also asked Angel what he dislikes about the freshmen, and he told us, “Something I dislike about the freshmen this year is how they don’t know how to walk in the hallways. They always block the hallways, and it’s annoying.” And this is on a serious note: “LEARN TO WALK THE HALLS, PEOPLE!!!! Not just the freshmen! This is a schoolwide epidemic.”
Now, for a deeper question to get you thinking, we asked Erin to give some advice to the incoming seniors. He said, “My advice for the incoming seniors is don’t procrastinate on your work, senior year flies by quickly, and you must stay on top of your classes to finish the year off on a good note.”
