Question 1: What do you do here at Pasco High?
I teach science, some CTE classes, physics, and astronomy.
Question 2: How long have you been working here at PHS?
I started teaching at Pasco High in 2013, and it’s been 12 years since. In 2011, I was student teaching at Highline Big Picture High School, then taught in Wapato for one year.
Question 3: When did you know you wanted to become a teacher?
I always liked tutoring my friends in high school. I went to college wanting to be a professor, but my plans changed, and I came back to Washington and became an engineer at Microsoft
Question 4: Did you enjoy the journey of becoming a teacher?
Yes, I enjoyed the journey of becoming a teacher. I was working full-time at Microsoft while taking classes at Seattle Pacific University to become a teacher. I was very tired, and it was hard, but it was worth it.
Question 5: What high school did you attend?
I went to Olympia High School, my nickname was Stick because I was very skinny.
Question 6: What is your favorite childhood memory?
I wouldn’t say it’s my favorite memory, but it was definitely memorable. I set a bush on fire with my friends in my backyard. The firemen came and everything, and a week later I was looking for my favorite jacket and I had remembered I left it in the bush.
Question 7: What is your biggest pet peeve?
Maybe when things don’t make sense, for example, when you’re at a red light but there are no other cars there.
Question 8: What are your hobbies outside of school?
I enjoy reading and riding my bike.
Question 9: Is there a book or movie that has had a big impact on you?
Yes, one of my favorite movies is Interstellar. I like movies about people facing hard challenges and not giving up.
Question 10: What accomplishments mean the most to you?
I went to the University of Bremen in Germany as a Fulbright scholar. I lived in Germany and had to learn the language and culture. It was pretty cool.
