I recently discovered a family-owned shop that just opened up: Botanas y Snacks El Pinguino. Located at 1127 W. Court St in Pasco, WA, the business has been operating for about 4 to 5 months and has received a lot of support from its wonderful customers, helping the family business grow each day.
Today, I plan to ask the owners, customers, and employees a series of questions about the business. I will review their food items and explore why people have given such positive feedback and continue to support this growing establishment.
I had the opportunity to interview one of the owners, Luz Magaña, from Botanas y Snacks El Pinguino.
What was the reason you started your business?
“We always wanted to sell something like Snacks because we knew it was something people would enjoy. We always saw ourselves having our own business.”
Do you offer discounts for students, or do you have any special deals on your menu?
“We have a 10% discount for students who show their student ID, and sometimes we have special offers on our menu.”
How did you come up with the menu items for your business?
“Some of the recipes I got inspired from, and others I made on my own.”
I then proceeded to ask questions to the employee from Botanas y Snacks el Pinguino Britny Gamboa.
How is your experience working here at Botanas y Snacks El Pinguino?
“My experience working here at Botanas y snacks el Pinguino has honestly been amazing I really do enjoy spending time working here with my family and learning new things everyday.”
What are your daily tasks working here at Botanas y Snacks el Pinguino?
“My day working here at Botanas y Snacks el Pinguino involves greeting people as soon as they come in and taking their orders when ready. I am also in charge of stocking forks, spoons, napkins, and straws. In addition, I am in charge of running our social media, such as Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok. Everyone can follow us @botanaselpinguino.”
Lastly, I asked an anonymous customer from Botanas y Snacks El Pinguino a few questions.
How did you hear about this place?
I heard about this place because of some friends who recommended it to me.
What is your favorite thing about the menu?
My favorite snack from Botanas y Snacks el Pinguino is the vaso loco, which comes with strips of pig skin, fruit like mango and cucumber, peanuts, and powdered chili, etc.
I also tried two snacks from Botanas y Snacks el Pinguino. The first was strawberry lemonade with popping boba, and the second was green agua chiles.
I rate the strawberry lemonade an 8.5 out of 10. It tastes like regular strawberry lemonade, but I really enjoy the tamarind stick, which adds a nice kick to the drink!
As for the agua chiles, I give them a perfect 10 out of 10. They taste absolutely amazing, and the mango definitely enhances their flavor. The spice level is perfect if you’re a fan of spicy foods. The agua chiles from Botanas y Snacks el Pinguino are definitely worth trying, especially when paired with Tostitos Flaming Hot chips, which elevate the flavor even more.
