The phrase “ghetto superstar” is one that deserves attention. It evokes the image of “the rose that grew from the concrete”—someone from your neighborhood, background, or struggle who rises to stardom. Malik Osama is a young, thriving artist from the Tri-Cities who deserves to be in the spotlight for his unique and impactful music.
Osama’s debut album, “Skitzo Ave,” was released on November 15, 2024, and features nine tracks. Following this, he continued to release two singles each month, with “The Liquid Jacket” dropping on January 30, 2025, and “Strange” following on February 22, 2025. Sources suggest that he is currently working on a second album due to high demand from his fans.
When Deanna Cantu, a Pasco High student, was asked how Malik Osama impacts her mood or mental state, she said, “It brings a different type of enjoyment, not like anything else I’ve heard.” His charismatic and eccentric style has made him a favorite in the underground music scene.
Osama showcases a variety of flows that cater to his unique and idiosyncratic style. Common places where his music is enjoyed include while driving, cleaning, or hanging out with friends. Ziuley Henderson, another Pasco High student, listed her top three Malik Osama songs as “Strange,” “Skitzo Ave,” and “Mainey Love,” which are fan favorites among many.
His raw and authentic style draws from a rich tapestry of life experiences. Ian Iulio, a Pasco High student, mentioned that he typically listens to Osama’s music at parties or when relaxing, recalling a time he listened to his songs while hanging out with friends at Richardson Park.
However, not all feedback is positive. Damon Bradfield, also a Pasco High student, expressed a critique: “He always takes forever to drop new music. I’ve heard some of his unreleased tracks, and they are hard.”
Despite this downside, Malik Osama captivates a widespread audience as a newcomer to the music scene. Recently, he shared teasers on Instagram for upcoming music videos, including those for “Skitzo Ave,” “Psycho Pimp,” and “The Liquid Jacket.” These highly anticipated videos, along with rumors of a second album, leave fans curious about Osama’s true potential.
Osama’s creativity shines through in his beats, drawing inspiration from a diverse range of sources including Frank Sinatra, Dora the Explorer, Zapp & Roger, and more. The charismatic enigma of Malik Osama continues to surprise fans, reshaping the concepts of music, sound, and culture while delivering deeper messages through his art.
