As many of you know, during the school year of 25-26, some teachers will be welcomed to the new high school, Sageview, which just opened for the upcoming year. Some may be excited, some may be nervous, but who knows? Maybe they want a new experience, or perhaps they just want a fresh start somewhere. I asked a few teachers some questions about why they decided to transfer there, and here are their answers.
Mrs. Rojas (Spanish Teacher):
-Why did you decide to move? “I decided to move because I was craving something different. I was hoping to work with others who were aligned with my teaching values and perspectives about language acquisition.”
– Are you excited to do so? “I am so excited! I love my team members, and we’ve been working together to get this new school opened for over a year now!“
-How do you expect it to be? ” I’m expecting it to be a bit of a learning curve, but with our leadership team, we will be okay.”
-Will you continue to teach what you are now? If so, what is it? “I will continue to teach Spanish 1-2 next year, as we pilot new curriculum.”
Mr. Campos (Spanish Teacher):
-Why did you decide to move? “I’ve decided to make this move because I’m eager to embrace a new chapter and be part of a new school community. I’m looking forward to building new connections with fellow educators and continuing to grow professionally in a fresh environment.”
-Are you excited to do so? “While I’m excited for this next step, leaving is definitely bittersweet. Pasco High holds a special place in my heart. It’s where I graduated in 2015 and where I’ve had the privilege of teaching and forming meaningful relationships with my students over the past few years. I’ll truly miss them and the amazing experiences we’ve shared.”
-Will you continue to teach what you are now? If so, what is it? “I’ll continue teaching Spanish, and I’m thrilled to share that I’ve also been given the opportunity to teach College in the High School courses through Eastern Washington University. It’s an exciting new direction that I’m really looking forward to!”
Mr. Martinez (English Teacher):
-Why did you decide to move?
I decided to move to Sageview because I’m excited about the opportunity to be part of building something new from the ground up. It’s a rare chance to help shape a school’s culture, community, and vision right from the beginning, and that kind of work really energizes me.
-Are you excited to do so?
Absolutely. Starting fresh with a new team and a new group of students is always exciting, and I’m looking forward to the challenge. Sageview has a lot of potential, and I’m honored to be a part of it.
-How do you expect it to be?
I expect it to be a lot of hard work, but also incredibly rewarding. There is something special about helping to lay the foundation of a school that will impact students for years to come. I’m hopeful it will be a place where creativity, high standards, and strong relationships thrive.
-Will you continue to teach what you are now? If so, what is it?
Yes, I’ll continue teaching English, and I’m also stepping into an exciting new role as the head wrestling coach. It’s a great mix of familiar work and fresh opportunities.
All these amazing teachers will be missed, and they are all very appreciated for their hard work here at Pasco High.
