As the season comes to an end, it’s only right to give a thorough review of the baseball season as a whole. In 2025, the program was much better on paper than it had been over the last few years, finishing 4-16 and barely missing the playoffs due to new postseason rules.
Starting the season, they broke a losing streak against Sunnyside High School in their second game. Max Garcia allowed zero runs over six innings and only got pulled after reaching a hundred pitches, resulting in a 5-1 victory on the road. This marked the first of many for the season.
Carrying past that, four days later on a road trip to Prosser, they snagged another win against Grandview High School with a final score of 9-5. This game was much closer than it should’ve been. Grandview was jumping out early, as it took some time for Pasco to heat up at the mid-to-late end of this game. After four games, Pasco was 2-2. Heading into conference play inside one of the strongest conferences in the state, they had quite the hill to climb, having three teams who had a spot in the top 5 state rankings.
Ten days and two games later, against a Walla Walla team with high expectations, the game looked closer on paper than it was. Pasco won with a final score of 8-4, after looking like they might get a ten-run lead until Walla Walla put up some points towards the end. This win shocked most people, as Walla Walla had just won a week earlier at Pasco in a shootout, 20-11.
After a rough 3 weeks against some of the better teams in the conference, Pasco was hungry for a win. With three outs left to make a stand, Pasco was down 4-5 against a mediocre at best Hermiston team on their senior night. Pasco managed three runs in the inning as Jon Wokojance sent a ball deep down the right foul line, scoring two. Hermiston could not respond accordingly, as they fell short in this game, 6-7.
Following this win, a strong will to win inspired them to make the playoffs, and although the chances were slim, they still tried their hardest. Unable to achieve this goal devastated them. After a close loss to the best team in the conference and heartbreaking losses to Southridge and Hermiston, their season was pretty much over.
Back-to-back winless seasons would leave the average team stumped. Pasco High School decided they wanted a change, and they got it as they showed great resilience, work ethic, motivation, and grit. They battled through multiple starters getting injured and responded as if nothing happened. Multiple players moved to positions they had never played before. Some even stayed there for the rest of the season. This year was a pivotal point for Pasco athletics, as not only did their baseball team pick up a lot, but most other sports also took steps up from last year, and they look to stay on the uprise.
