One Battle After Another plot involves a former radical, played by Leonardo DiCaprio, who must protect his daughter from the group after their leader, Colonel Steven J. Lockjaw (Sean Penn), learns he may be the girl’s biological father. The cult’s villainy drives the film’s conflict and its “blistering game of cat and mouse.”
Johnny Greenwood is an incredible artist who is behind the soundtrack of One Battle After Another, along with the London Contemporary Orchestra. The music goes amazingly into the movie. Adding more emotion to parts of the movie, tension when the main character, Bob, is trying to avoid the police, while the background has a melodic metal with simple but unpretentious notes playing
The beginning of one battle after another has a slow start. We get time to learn how the characters act and speak to one another. While seeing them go on a rescue mission for the immigrants, we get to see the members of French 75 and the roles they all have. Once Perfidia Beverly Hills is pregnant, the color of the movies goes from dark to a bright color scheme representing the joy Bob Ferguson (Leonardo DiCaprio) earned after the baby was born. We know that Perfidia misses the old days of being part of the French 75 and the way she and Bob were, too. We see that when the camera faces towards Perfidia, it is a darker tone of colors, black and dark blue. When switched to Bob and baby Willa, we see it go brighter, using colors like yellow and white.
Acting in movies is the biggest key point in films, and in this movie, they did a fantastic job making it seem like they truly fell out of love, Perfidia Beverly Hills getting jealous of the baby after not getting enough attention, and the bond Bob has with his sensei Sergio St. Carlos. This movie brought me excitement with all the action scenes and the way the French 75 group had a strong bond with each other, making the betrayal of Perfidia Beverly Hills more impactful. During the chase for Willa, Bob ran through the city as we see in the riots, yet throughout the whole chaos, he received help from the people whom he had befriended in the city.
In our rating, the movie was great and had a good plot twist, characters with actual real real-looking relationships, action sequences not worth forgetting, colors, and music to add more depth to the movie. This is very worth your time at the movies with a group of friends. I would give the movie a 9/10.
