**Pasco High Football**
As the season progresses, there are both positives and negatives to reflect on in our games. Despite facing significant challenges and adversity, our program has seen considerable growth thanks to a new group of coaches and tactics. Senior Quarterback Salvador Olvera ranks 4th in the MCC with 619 passing yards, while Senior Receiver Max Valencia leads the league with 7 interceptions and has scored 6 touchdowns. Senior Running Back Jayden Williams has accumulated 519 rushing yards. Currently sitting with a 1-5 record, the team continues to show a strong will to compete with four games left on the schedule, including matchups against Kamiakin, Hermiston, Hanford, and a TBD crossover game.
Senior Center Adrian mentioned, “Our key issues this season are our offensive struggles; we have difficulty scoring points, along with defensive lapses that allow opponents to score too easily.” The team has also dealt with roster changes and injuries that have disrupted team chemistry. Our coaches emphasize learning from mistakes, and right now, we are striving for a win on Thursday, October 16th, against Kamiakin.
**Pasco High Girls Soccer**
The girls’ soccer team has had an amazing season so far, boasting a solid 6-5 overall record. This record reflects the challenges they’ve faced, along with the strong determination and growth exhibited throughout their games. Each match produced different outcomes, but every game showed the team’s effort and will to win. The leader in goals for the girls is Senior Jazlyn Venegas, and the team captain is Sophomore Roslynn Olivera. The team’s ability to secure six wins demonstrates their competitive spirit and commitment to the sport.
Sophomore Amaya Cabezas said, “My personal goal for the team is to finish the season with as many wins as possible to reach the playoffs and stay ambitious.” The team has experienced hard-fought victories and challenging losses but plans to bounce back from their recent 5-1 loss to Southridge when they face Chiawana on Tuesday, October 14th.
**Pasco High Volleyball**
The girls’ volleyball team has had a tough season so far, holding a 1-9 record. Key issues have included height and execution, but there are many positives to note. Senior Middle Alyla Parker leads the team in kills with 25, showcasing impressive skills. This season’s highlight includes the team earning their first win in 131 games against Sageview. The players continue to work hard in practice, focusing on fundamentals such as serving, passing, and teamwork. Senior Libero Samantha Vasquez said, “It’s more than just playing. It’s about grit, the team, and lighting a fire for everyone who comes next.”
The coaches emphasize the importance of staying positive and preparing for Senior Night, urging players to be strong for their teammates and not to get down on themselves. The team plans to display confidence and improve communication. They have back-to-back road games against Walla Walla and Chiawana, followed by their second game against Sageview High School on October 21st.
**Pasco High Slow Pitch Softball**
The girls’ softball team had an exceptionally challenging season, failing to secure a single win. While the effort was evident and commendable, the team ended with a record of 0-12 and was eliminated from the playoffs after a 0-16 loss to Othello. However, they plan to bounce back next year and develop some of their younger talent. Congratulations to the seniors for completing their slow-pitch high school careers!
