His first season with the Seahawks.
During his rookie season, Jaxon Smith-Njigba was considered to have had an underwhelming season, since at the time the Seahawks had a full locker room of receivers. Despite all this, he finished the season with 4 touchdowns in 17 games and 63 receptions for 628 yards.
His current season.
During these last couple of games, Jaxon Smith-Njigba has been full of highlights. He is the wide receiver to look forward to, as there is more to come from him. As of week 6 during the current 2025 NFL season, Jaxon Smith-Njigba is the top-ranked receiver in the league, as he is showing outstanding performances; not only that he lead the league in reception yards, but he is 2nd in yards per reception. His connection and chemistry with Sam Darnold, the quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks, has been brought to light and is being recognized by many. After showing his potential in the 2024 season, Jaxon Smith-Njigba has been redefining the amount of potential he could achieve. As of now, his pace is bright and promising, and if he keeps this up, he is on track towards beating the All-Time single-season receiving yards of the NFL held by Calvin Johnson. After the recent Jaguars game, Jaguars analyst Bucky Brooks stated, “The team could not contain Smith-Njigba on the perimeter” after an outstanding game by Jaxon Smith-Njigba, not only that, however, many Football analyst are praising Jaxon Smith-Njigba route running skills as well as his straight line speed and explosiveness, with this being troublesome for the ones who have to guard him. Many acknowledged his talent since his College years. Jalen Ramsey, one of the NFL’s best CBs (cornerbacks), commented on Jaxon Smith-Njigba, calling him “one of the nation’s best wide receivers” in a report from Eleven Warriors in 2022. It’s no surprise he has attracted the attention of many, as he performs on the field.
As a Seahawks fan our team has always been critiqued by many, and have rarely been super bowl bound ever since the lost in 2015 against the New England Patriots, however with the current performances of this year no body knows what to expect yet. “until we get a better core of linebackers we will miss the super bowl” Mr. C Martinez a PHS teacher said, as a Seahawks fan himself he also commented “He is going to be the key to us going to another super bowl” when asked about Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Jaxon Smith-Njigba is showing why he is here, game by game; he is shining brighter, being recognized, and even being in the talks of being one of the best wide receivers in the NFL in the current season. However, at the pace he is showing, he may very well become the greatest. If you missed his last few seasons, do not worry because Jaxon Smith-Njigba is here and rising, showing nothing but greatness.
