Teachers/ Staff caring more about cell phones than students vaping in the bathrooms. I get that it is hard to keep track of every student here at PHS, but seriously, why am I more likely to get sent to the office for a phone than for a vape? Not trying to say that every kid is vaping in the bathroom, but there has been a major problem with that during my time here. Since we’re already on the topic of bathrooms.
Almost every bathroom is locked. Seriously, I know a lot of incidents have happened in the bathroom. Still, if it’s so bad that you think you have to lock it, why not just take the door off? Or send a message on Minga to let students know which bathrooms will be unavailable, so they don’t have to wander around the school looking for one that’s open.
The AC is always “broken”. In the beginning and end of the school year, the AC always seems to magically be “broken” as soon as the weather starts to get hotter, but it doesn’t seem like the school is worried about the students/teachers overheating. Which may be a stretch, but in my opinion, they don’t seem to care.
The new rule has only one open period. I know this is supposed to help students, but a lot of us looked forward to having open periods and worked hard to earn the credits for one. A lot of the students here at PHS either have a job or something important to do.
The parking lot. No offense to some of you guys, but man, you should not be driving at all if you don’t even know how to look while backing up. Not just the drivers, but also the students walking in the parking lot, getting in front of cars, acting as if a vehicle can’t accidentally hit you.
The lack of school spirit for girls’ sports. Don’t get me wrong —I know Football, boys’ basketball, baseball, and whatever else is cool, but we can at least show a little more school spirit for the girls’ sports. Not all of it is on the school; it is also on the teams for not creating themes or announcing when there is a game until the very day, so I will give the school grace on that.
Students think it’s funny to be disrespectful. Seriously, people, we’re in high school, can we please start acting like it? PHS has such a bad rep because students think that it’s funny to be disrespectful. There should be no reason why we believe that it’s funny to be making rude jokes or being rude to adults at our grown age. Seriously, I think some of you need to go back to middle school sometimes.
Walking slowly in the halls. This is for those kids who stand or walk slow in the halls, if you want to stand somewhere please go off to the side so nobody bumps into you. A lot of the time there are arguments in the halls just because someone accidently bumped into someone else, if you don’t want anyone to bump into you maybe don’t stand in the middle of the hall while people are trying to walk to class.
Bullying. Just because someone doesn’t have the same morals or values as you does not make them any less than you; if anything, they’re better than you for not making someone feel bad for being themselves. Again, at our grown age, why are we still bullying, especially in high school? It’s embarrassing. Some of you guys have too much free time, and it shows.
FINALLY, NOT EVERYTHING IS THAT DEEP. We’re only in high school once, so why can’t we forgive and forget? I’m pretty sure a lot of us have heard “if you don’t have nothing nice to say, don’t say it at all” at least once in our lives. Don’t be a bully, just have fun. Not everyone is out to get you, so please stop acting like the whole world hates you and that you have to be angry with everyone. Trust me, that won’t get you anywhere in life.
