In high school, there are times when words alone aren’t just enough. Students going through heartbreak, stress, and even uncertainty about the future can feel like they are lost in this world. But what if instead of staying stuck in the negative parts of life, we can listen to the positive things and mix them with the negative things. That’s where the power of music steps in, and that’s an album called “Luv(sic) Hexalogy”.

The Luv(sic) Hexalogy is an album collaboration created and finalized posthumously by Japanese producer Jun Seba, better known as Nujabes, and Japanese American rapper Shingo Annen, better known as Shing02. It’s a jazz hip hop album that also includes remixes and instrumentals that focus on the six main songs; it incorporates Latin/jazz soul samples and hip-hop drumbeats. The album tells a story of love, loss, the power of music, and ultimately leads to a sense of peace and acceptance.
Luv(sic)
This song serves as a love letter to a person and how music helps them express their love for the person. Lyrics such as “God bless this opportunity for me to find a voice for some words that have waited for way too long” and “The beat plus the melody makes me speak of L.O.V.E eloquently, so evidently” explains how the speaker is glad they’ve found a way to express the words they’ve wanted to say for so long that when paired with music the words come out deeply and truthfully. It’s not just a normal love letter; it’s how music (the rhythm and melody) can make love more than just an emotion.
Luv(sic) Part 2
This song has a lot of things going on, such as love, music, struggles, and redemption, but what speaks out the most for me in this song is the reuniting (human connection).
The following lyrics talk about reuniting: “Once again, now where do I start? Dear love, dumbstruck with the pure luck to find you here…So let’s rap, we’ll catch up to par, what’s the haps? Perhaps we’re even closer now after all things considered on this side of the planet, couldn’t pick a better time even if we planned it.”
The speaker is surprised to see this person again, so he wants to catch up with the person and feels that they feel more connected than ever. Human connections and meeting up with people they’ve known before can make the speaker feel alive.
Luv(sic) Part 3
This song alone talks about how powerful music can be in our lives. This lyric by itself explains it, “It’s funny how music puts time in perspective, add a soundtrack to your life, and perfect it. Whenever you are feeling blue, keep walking, and we can get far, wherever you are.” Music can help us reflect on our past and add meaning to our lives, and music itself gives us the strength to keep moving forward.
Luv(sic) Part 4
This song talks about the love of seasons and the love of the different times of the year, which in life is something we don’t really appreciate since we’re constantly moving through life and when we do notice the change of the seasons it’s usually when it’s during a holiday or something big but the rest of it is just like any normal day.
“Snowflakes like January, Heart warmth like February, I wouldn’t ordinarily. March to the drum, play a fool like April, May the best dance in a Juno bridal, Power of the will, Julius and Augustus, aw, you know it’s just us. In a new semester back in September…Dress up at the end of October, give thanks to the fam in November, A cold but cozy December.” The song tells you that love should be appreciated at every moment and time of the year.
Luv(sic) Part 5
This song is sad since the speaker dedicates this song to two people who have died, one from cancer and the other from a car accident. The speaker feels depressed and nostalgic about them as the lyrics here describe his grief, “Til death do us part, and it did, come sudden like clouds, and it hid my sun. Your truth is heavier than imagined, a lid diecast in lead, on our lives we nourished. And we days we cherished as kids, we let ‘em whizz on by, but when I rewind, your smile is the only thing that comes to mind, your smile is the only thing that shines.”
As much as the speaker is filled with sorrow, he understands it’s a part of life and we must appreciate it, “Whether a tree(human) lives to see the end of centuries or a random hand(death) picks it instantly. Life is art, a miracle for all to see. I must tell you that you lived beautifully.”
Luv(sic) Grand Finale
This is the last song of the hexalogy, and I think it’s the most beautiful song here, it puts you in a peaceful state of mind and after moving on from the last song (part 5) the speaker shows his acceptance and newly found peace he has found after his friends passing, “You see a circle is a flawless shape, every part equidistant from the center on the arc without a start or a finish. A line on a loop carries weight, a freight train runs unabated, views vanishing from my point of vantage…Still live ‘cause I said it, a life of its own unless we dead it ‘til they see our name in credits. Happiness is a hot potato that you can’t possess for long, just pass it on like a song.” The speaker understands that life will change, it will continue no matter what, and soon there will be an end, but accepts it and lives life to the fullest.

Conclusion
This is a very good album, and I hope other people will give it a listen and can relate to most of the songs! Remember, life will have ups and downs, but make sure you make the most of every day.
