Having trouble deciding what to do in the last few weeks of October? Are you more of a stay at home and watch movies kind of person? Are you looking for maybe two or three Halloween movie recommendations? If so, I’d like to start off with some well-known horror movies in case you have not watched.
Starting off with the 2011 film, Insidious. This movie follows a married couple and their three kids who move into a big house where paranormal events occur. On one morning, the parents struggle to wake their son Dalton from his sleep, resulting in him going into a coma. After months have passed, still not knowing what had happened to Dalton, the wife calls for help. She contacts a specialist named Elise Rainier: a psychic who helps the family communicate with spirits and helps them gain their son back from an evil realm/dimension. Great jump scares and an interesting storyline.
The Conjuring 2. This movie follows a single mother and her four children who move into a new home. One of the daughters named Janet, becomes possessed by the spirit of an older man that tries to kick the family out of the house, until it becomes too late and another presence is terrorizing them.
Hill House, a Halloween TV Show recommendation by History teacher Ms. Rizzitello.
“It is a haunted house, right? So that has that jump scare aspect I like. But there is a lot of suspense because it’s not a movie, it is a mini-series. So, at the end of every episode, there is still a cliffhanger.” Rizzitello describes the show as hugely suspenseful and a thriller, with jump scares, a cliffhanger, and a plot twist every episode.
All three films are available on Netflix.
