The Land of FFA

The Land of FFA

Here at Pasco High school, there is a club called FFA. FFA is the acronym for Future Farmers of America. This club is both a student leadership program and a great opportunity for students to find their passion in agriculture. It helps students learn and grow in their leadership skills and provides them with the tools to help them branch out into their area of interest.

“Students should join FFA, first off because it’s fun we get to travel, we do competitions where you do have to study but you get to learn new things and meet new people,” stated from Ms. Lambert, the advisor of Pasco High’s FFA chapter. These competitions given to students to participate in lets them show off their skills learned in FFA.

Some different competitions students can participate in is apple judging, potato judging, projects, raising animals at fairs, floral design, business, and many more open to many people to explore. As exploring, Ms. Lambert is welcoming any student to become an FFA member and as she says, “Oh, that’s agriculture, we have a place for you!”

As students come to Pasco High many people don’t know about FFA and that’s because most people see agriculture as picking fruit in a field, which is not the case. Ms. Lambert’s goal is to prove that agriculture is more than that, as time goes on our technology is progressing, giving agriculture more opportunities for people to be more involved with technology and science.

If students are interested in becoming an FFA member there are some things to consider. The state requires them to be registered with one of Ms. Lambert’s classes such as animal science, floricultureAg leadership, AFNR, plant science, ag biotechnology, production horticulture, Ag power and tech and landscape design. To get registered in one of her classes you can talk to your counselor to get signed up or find a FFA officer who can help you get linked with Ms. Lambert at portable 203.
