The Class of 2026 graduates in a few months from now, but there are a few important dates that every senior should know. Now, although graduation day isn’t until June and we are in the beginning of March, it’s better to note a few dates so you don’t have to panic when the time comes and you can be informed about which important days seniors need to attend.
Friday, May 15th, is the day when seniors review their contracts, student senior speakers are present, and the class of 2026 cap & gown photos are taken. This runs from 7:44 AM to 9:44 AM, and all seniors are expected to show up ready and prepared. I asked Miguel Tello who is a friend of mine, what he thinks about this day to which he responded saying, “I’m definitely nervous about this day since it sounds really important but I’m also excited because i get to experience one of the first steps that lead into graduation.” he then followed up saying, “I think people should go because not only does it sound important, but also because you can also get the chance to experience something that only happens once.” i can personally agree with him and i also think that all seniors should attend just to be sure they don’t miss anything important and for the thrill of wearing your cap & gown for class photos.
The next date to remember is Friday, May 22nd. This day is the senior college and career signing day assembly, and it is also advised that seniors attend. especially for those who plan to go straight to college after high school. This day also provides more information and details about graduation and, obviously, college & career information, and signing for those who pursue college straight after high school. “This opportunity is once in a lifetime because your not going to be young forever, you and other kids should go and learn about the opportunities they are showing you guys so you at least know what’s out there.” my mother recently said as i had asked her if students should go and attend or not and to be honest i agree with her because it’s like she said, “you’re never going to be young forever.”
The last important date is May 27th. This day is senior cap & gown class photo day, and, as they say, it’s another day when the class of 2026 takes their photos together. All students are encouraged to go, so don’t skip this day! Ensure you have already ordered your cap & gowns, and they will be given to you before this day, so don’t worry, PHS has you covered. I interviewed Alonzo Johnson, a PHS senior and i asked him whether he is ready to graduate or not to which he responded saying, “Yes bro i am ready to get out of this school but at the same time, it’s going to be weird on getting used to not going to school no more.” he then followed up saying, “I’m ready and i know it’s all going to be like weird but really I am ready.” hearing his answers to my question i personally feel the same way as i am also a PHS senior.
It’s going to be a new chapter in life, and it will feel scary. All these dates ultimately lead up to graduation day, which is set for June 5th. All seniors should be prepared and begin taking steps to learn more about graduation. All counselors and staff are always available for any questions you have, and I strongly suggest asking for more information!
