Skating has been around for decades, a sport of risk and dedication. It has been able to bring my friends and I closer together. With the culture that it is skating, has been very popular because the way it can bring people together to challenge each other is very different from other sports. In my personal life it has given me a new hobby that I can enjoy with my friends, when I ride around, I see places in the cities that I never even knew were there. You see the life that’s actually around you, the life you live in. Here in Tri-Cities there is great number of skaters, some who are very good and some who are just learning. I look up too many pro skaters because of the difficulty of skating, to land a trick you have to continuously get it wrong until you get it once and have to try continuously again to land the trick once more.

Friends

Skating comes along with friends whether your friends and you get into it together or you make friends along the way its something that just kind of comes with all hobbies. With skating its necessary to have friends helping you out with what you’re trying to accomplish, you are all pushing each other to land a trick. When I go out to skate for the most part, I’m with my friends I like to share the moment with someone else rather than being on my own. When we go out, we try and ride around the city finding spots where we can get clips, were trying to find stairs, a curb or some rail to land something. We film most of our clips so we can than edit them and then put them online. The places we go to skate are at PHS, church parking lots, nice businesses with nice concrete and any place that we can get a cool clip on. Fashion is a great part of me and my friend’s life, so we can tie in that fashion with our life in skating to have a really cool product that can bring traffic to our production.

Pro Skating

Going pro would be something very serious for anyone that is in skating. Personally, I’m not sure if I would want to go pro, I would rather continue to film other skaters and give others the opportunity to show off what they know. There are certain skaters that are some of the best that I look up to, the first one is Tony Hawk, everyone knows who Tony Hawk is because he basically made skating cool and what it is today before him it was a fad that was to die out. He started skating very young and went pro as a teenager, I remember something that happened early in his career was he bought a house at the age of 18 and it made many headlines. The other skater I look up to is Sunny Suljic, who is only my age but still is an amazing skater. He started coming up when he starred in Jonah Hill’s movie Mid 90’s. He is an amazing skater for his age, he can easily compete with some of the best.

Riding

Everyone should at least try and ride a board. Its very fun and it comes with great experiences. You don’t have to learn to do tricks there is different types of riding. You could street skate and go around finding spots to do tricks or you could just get softer wheels and just cruise around with friends. You can build your board set up to what ever style you prefer, with softer or harder wheels and tight or loose trucks. The size of your board is also something to always look at. You should have something that suits your shoe size but also is comfortable for you to ride on. Riding takes contrary to popular belief it is a difficult sport, so even at the beginning just finding your balance can be difficult, you have to learn how stand on the board so you aren’t leaning, but everyone should try the beautiful experience that is skating.
