There are many designers in this modern time that we live in who design some of the best clothing on the market. There are some very known designers like Virgil Abloh, Nigo, Raf Simmons, Just Don and even Kanye West. There are designers for different categories of fashion such as streetwear or designer but most of them have made a great impact on the fashion industry. There are of course some younger designers who are just recently making their impact and showing off their talent. Someone who has been making headlines recently is Salehe Bembury,

Upbringing

Salehe Bembury who is 35 years old was born and raised in Tribeca, New York influenced by the many different cultures he saw growing up. He went to Syracuse University in New York, studying industrial design. He graduated in 2004 with his degree. After that, he went to design shoes for payless, in 2011 he was hired Cole Haan and through them he was introduced to Kanye west and was able to design in Yeezy for a few seasons of pieces and sneakers he designed. In 2017 he became the head of sneaker design at Versace and then in 2020 he became vice president of sneakers and men’s footwear at Versace.

His Impact

Although he is the vice president at Versace he can design independently for other brands. Recently he has been working a lot with New Balance designing many different sneakers. He designed a New balance 2002R in 2 different color ways one is teal with other colors and the other is a shade of orange. The other New balance shoe he designed is the 574 yurt in 4 different color ways one is teal like the other one and the rest are all neutral colors but the difference with this shoe is that it was designed for hiking and all different terrains, the shoe has a built in whistle so that if you ever get lost hiking you can blow the whistle. The model is meant to show off new materials that will be used in the future and a new very purposeful design. Bembury’s most recent collaboration will be with Crocs, most people love crocs they’re comfortable and you can wear them with most outfits. His collaboration with crocs is different than the one we have seen in the past, he as a designer is making a whole new model which is designed beautifully. His model will release on December 14^th of this year, in 4 different color ways all neutral colored, they are definitely a shoe to look out for.
