We have all seen the trailer for The Exorcist: Believer and it looks good and has received a lot of hype because of it but is it worth the watch? This movie is like a conjuring movie but more exciting and entertaining because it has more adrenaline.
For example, when Ann said “What do you think evil is? I will tell you what I think it is. We are born in this world with hope, dreams, and a desire to be happy. The devil has one wish, to make us lose faith, to kill it in us. And the devil never gives up.”
The Exorcist: Believer was released on October 6th, 2023. The movie’s director is David Gordon Green, and he is the co-writer of this film, along with William Peter Blatty and Danny McBride. The genre of this movie is supernatural, horror, and thriller. This movie is good because it contains a lot of suspense and adrenaline that makes you want to keep watching.
The movie starts with a man taking pictures of people at the beach when his pregnant wife comes back to the beach after getting a blessing from a woman for her baby. The main characters of this film are Tanner, Chris MacNeil, Angela, Paula, Principal, Katherine, and Lamastus. The conflict of this film is that these two families started to encounter paranormal activities after Katherine and Angela came back. The antagonist of this movie is Lamastus, the entity that possessed the girls. The best and most exciting part of this movie was when Katherine and Angela started to get possessed by the entity, leading up to their possession. The film ended with a good plot twist and the two families trying to process what happened to them. This movie also did not leave cliffhangers like other movies do which is a good thing for people that do not like movies with cliffhangers.
This was a great movie because it kept me entertained and on the edge of the seat trying to figure out what would happen next with Katherine and Angela. For example, when Tanner wakes up his daughter with breakfast but notices that she wet the bed, he takes her to get cleaned up in the bathroom while he goes to the bedroom to clean up her bed but he notices that she got out of the bathroom and he starts looking for her until Angela comes from the back and hits him in the head. This shows that this film was building up suspense because the viewers did not know that Angela was going to hit her dad on the head while her dad was looking for her. Another example would be when Katherine stabs Chris in the eyes with a cross saying that her daughter is dead and to try to look for her after she stabbed Chris’s eyes when Tanner walks in, to save Chris from Katherine that was untied. This also shows that the movie is giving the viewers adrenalin because they do not know what is going to happen next and if Katherine could kill Chris and hurt Tanner.
This movie was great and people that like horror movies would enjoy watching this film as much as I did because it kept me entertained and at the edge of my seat. I liked how the film played out because it did not leave cliffhangers, and everything ended effectively. I would rate this movie a 9.5/10 and would recommend people to watch it if they like horror movies as much as me.
