SAW X

SAW X

The Saw series is probably a series many have you heard of or even watched, it’s undoubtedly a popular franchise with horror fans. It has grossed $95 million worldwide and has received good reviews and praise so far. So, I decided to watch it and give my review of it without any spoilers just in case some may still want to watch it.

While watching it I tried to look at it from not only a series point of view but also as a standalone movie. If I am being completely honest it was pretty well done in both retrospect, it’s able to stay relevant to the series in a way that is not too overwhelming with big twists or wild plot holes. And also, as a standalone movie while some may need guidance to get a sense of what is happening it’s easy to follow while still having interesting twist and turns. If you have never seen a SAW movie, I don’t think it is that big of a deal since it does well as a standalone horror movie.

Now about the gore in this movie is a thing many of the fans and horror fans anticipated the most for this movie. It definitely did its job in my book by making my skin crawl of all the traps in the movie, which I believe is one of the main allures to this movie. The traps made my look away in discomfort and anxiousness and the special effects were pretty good as well.

The acting was well done in my opinion with recurring characters from previous movies. Tobin Bell a recurring character and actor in the franchise did an exemplary job portraying the villain yet also making the audience root for him and feel sympathy. The rest of the cast also did a marvelous job portraying their characters.

An interesting storyline to follow, with suspense and a revenge plot with twists which may not be big, but they do add a finishing touch to the story. It keeps the same familiar vibe as previous films in the series but also having and exciting flare in the form of it being a prequel of sorts. It’s definitely a movie that is hard to fall asleep during especially with all the screams.

In conclusion it’s a film you could watch with friends or family or even yourself but a fair warning for those if you do get queasy at the sight of blood or maybe you enjoy the gore and the drama, then this movie is for you, i highly recommend it is definitely a film that could be rewatch worthy.
