Washington is one of the most beautiful places in the U.S. It has a lot to offer nature wise. Washington has beautiful parks, rivers, and mountains. But out of all the parks in the state what are the best parks in Washington according to Pasco High students? Students were asked what they thought their favorite park in Washington is. The most popular among students are found below.
- Olympia Park
This one seems to be very popular among students and for a good reason.
“I go there with my family every year or so. It’s a really nice place to do day hikes and just enjoy the good scenery,” Yahir Lopez said.
Olympia Park may not hold one of Washington’s tallest mountains, but it is still very impressive, nevertheless. It gets about 3 million visitors a year.
“I like going to the hot springs. It makes me feel like I’m connected by nature in a way. I would recommend anyone to go if you want to start exploring parks in Washington,” Fabain Garcia stated.
It looks like students rank Olympia high up.
- Mount Rainer Park
Of course you can’t talk about Washington Parks without mentioning Mount Rainer. It is possibly the most known mountain in all of Washington. It is the tallest mountain in Washington and one of the most beautiful places in the state.
“Mount Rainer is my favorite place to go for day hikes or just to travel to. One day I’ll like to reach the summit,” Fabian Garcia said.
“I feel like anyone who lives in Washington probably has been there,” added student Alexzander.
Mount Rainer has friendly beginner trails for newcomers and a great park to start exploring. If you’re from Washington you probably should go.
- North Cascades
Another student favorite is the North Cascade National Park. Located in northern Washington on the border of Canada, the park holds about 300 glaciers more than any other, not just in Washington. Some believe you might need some more experience if you want to explore the North Cascades.
“It really gets remote when you get out there. Cool terrain but if you get hurt your out there alone,” said Antino.
The North Cascades are also known for having the highest fatality rate per visitor due to the dangerous remote mountain terrain. So, if you are going to visit the North Cascades you should take precautions and if you’re a beginner you should take a safe easy trail to start with.
