Saturday school?
Many people may not know what Saturday school is, well I’m here to tell you all about it!
Saturday school is a program for juniors (11th grade) that has between 12-15 credits and needs either a math or social studies credit identified by their counselors and invited to Saturday School. Saturday school runs from 8:00- 11:00 am and goes on for four Saturdays.
Many people might ask, is it worth going to school on Saturdays? And I can tell you it is worth going. Mr. Baker, a Pasco High School administrator, states that “The benefit is that you will have 1 less class to take in 12th grade, and it clears up 12th grade schedules for other classes that students may need to graduate.”
But how will you know when you’re done? Well, each student has their own individual plan. They finish when they have shown proficiency, as determined by the teacher, in the class they are taking. The process of Saturday school is students are identified by their counselor and based on needs to makeup a math or social studies class they had taken in the past and were close to passing but did not pass.
Saturday school started April 24th and ends May 16th with most people earning up to .5 credits or a couple of students making up to 1.0 credits. Although students can make up any credits they need in math or social studies.
