FFA is a club here at PHS that is worth getting involved in. It is a student organization that focuses on leadership, personal growth, and career success through agricultural education. It’s open to students enrolled in an agriculture or natural resources course. The Pasco Chapter has 2 advisors, Mrs. Lambert and Mrs. Smith.
There are many opportunities to gain valuable experience through activities and competitions. FFA is student-led, allowing members to make decisions for the chapter; students can choose what they want to compete in. Our advisors will give you the tools you need to be successful, and if you express interest in certain events, they will work to make it happen.
“We have events and travel all year long,” Mrs. Lambert, one of the chapters advisor’s comments, “From chapter meetings every month where we have different food, to Member Leadership Series and State Convention for overnight trips.”
“We also have a huge range of competitions, workshops, and awards students can earn. Things like potato judging, apple judging, vet science, public speaking, floriculture, and more. If you can get a team together to do the contest, we will do our best to get you ready and have fun while doing it.”
A notable part of being in FFA is official dress; you’re sure to see members in all black paired with their blue corduroy jackets when you go to functions. Official dress guidelines help members to be successful while maintaining a professional appearance. You can purchase your own or Mrs. Lambert can lend you an extra pair.

When asked what environment new members can expect in the chapter after they join, Mrs. Lambert expresses, “We are both really silly and kind of serious at the same time. We consider FFA to be a professional organization, so there are times that we have to follow specific instructions, but we also want to have fun and make new friends and find new interests. Students are able to pick how involved they are, but the more involved they are, the better time I have seen them have.”
FFA is an intracurricular that opens up to many career fields after high school, including agriculture, science, business, and technology. One of the biggest takeaway from being an active member of the FFA is leadership, FFA prepares students by helping them develop leadership skills that will stick with them throughout their lives. By engaging and being active in the chapter, you will have many opportunities to hold a leadership position.
FFA is what you make of it. If you put in the work, it will benefit you in ways that will serve you the rest of your life.
