Winter sports are here
As Pasco High’s fall sports are reaching an end, we welcome in winter sports coming around the corner! This includes boys and girls basketball, boys and girls wrestling, boys swimming, girls bowling, dance, and cheer. The first team playing currently is boys varsity wrestling Thursday, December 2. As every team prepares and practices for their games to start beginning, coaches are getting more tensed as the season peaks threw the corner. Athletes do have to remember it is called winter sports for a reason, injuries and concussions are more likely to happen. As every team and athlete is getting prepared to play for staff, family, and friends, they need the community to come together and cheer them on. Make sure you get your gear before it’s to late and help bring the pride to the court.
Speaking with Mireyah Lopez she said, “last year season was a pretty tough season due to having to deal with COVID, multiple games in such a short period, and having a weird schedule we weren’t used to, but we did have our successes but unfortunately due to COVID our successes were cut short and put on hold. We still are the MCC champions, for that exact reasonIi can not wait for our upcoming season. Due to the new protocols that are set in place for COVID, this season should be the safest one yet. COVID has made us more hungry for that championship, we don’t want COVID ruining another chance to win it all, so we mask up, get tested twice a week and are extra cautious. COVID has made us a better team overall, made us able to understand each other and most importantly made us a family who’s always there for one another. I truly believe my team has the talent and potential to make it to state. We each all have our own unique set of skills, that’s what makes the lady bulldogs #1. I can’t wait to pick up where we left off and show everyone we still are #1.”
Everyone knows that this season looks a little bit different whether it may be fall, winter, or spring sports. As people cheer on each sport, make sure you wash your hands, sanitize, and most importantly wear your mask. As the pandemic grew and numbers raised. The school was uncertain the students were getting a season thankfully now that everyone is able to wear a mask or even get vaccinated we can see our amazing players one last time for some.
