Tri-Tech or CBC?

Tri-Tech or CBC?

When it comes to your junior or senior year you have a choice between going to Tri-Tech or CBC. It can be challenging to choose, or it could be easy. Still, for those who want to attend either one but need a bit more information, I’ve decided to write on the pros and cons of both courses while also sharing experiences from other students, so maybe when you sign up this year it will make it easier.

I happen to be a Tri-Tech student and some of the pros of attending Tri-Tech are that it’s very hands-on work and very social so it’s easy to make friends with people who have the same interests as you. There’s also free transportation from your homeschool and back and home stops on Thursdays. You can also choose to attend morning class or afternoon class depending on what suits you best, they also provide breakfast and lunch. There is a wide variety of courses like Cosmetology, Nursing, Game Design, Film/Digital Design, Construction, Culinary, etc.

On the downside when it comes to early release days it doesn’t impact Tri-Techs schedule, so you’ll rarely get to use early days especially if you choose PM classes. Also, in order to access your grade, you need to use an entirely different login from PowerSchool, using a Kennewick login. Also, the distance and location may be a factor since the buses leave right after class ends so you can’t lag behind or else, you’ll miss it.

I spoke to a CBC student, Zahara Acevedo and likes to say that she enjoys the freedom you receive from attending CBC since a lot of the work you do is online and transportable. They’re college level classes and you receive credits, but you don’t get free transportation.

Overall, CBC is much more school, and college based while Tri-Tech is more workforce based with hands on experience. It just depends on what you want to do after high school, go straight to college or maybe you want an edge in your competition with jobs and gain experience or if you just want to explore an interest to see if it’s something you want to pursue then, you can do that.
