The Experience at Victoria’s Academy: Tri Tech

The Experience at Victorias Academy: Tri Tech

My Experience at Victoria’s Academy has been unique so far. When you first walk into the Academy there is a very welcoming environment around you. People are very friendly and welcome you with open arms. At first, I was a little nervous because it was my first day but the welcoming environment, helped a lot in making that nervous feeling go down. When I first entered the classroom I was met by Ms. Smith who is the teacher for all of the Victoria’s Academy students. Ms. Smith intimidated me at first but once we all got settled down and she started telling us about herself I was less intimated and more admired her as a teacher and a person.

For the first week, there were many introductions to things because as a new student, You need to know the basic steps for everyday learning and what your daily routine might look like. She also gave us a tour of the academy so that we knew where everything was and was easy to find. Then all of us students headed into the next week, and we started to learn basic skills on hair. The first set that we had done was a roller set. Going into the set I thought it would be easy and simple but it was the complete opposite. I remember not doing so well, but Ms. Smith reassured me by letting me know I still had room to improve and learn from my mistakes as it was only the first day.

After she told me that, I believed more in myself and had more confidence in going into the skills that she would teach us later on. She gave me some tips to make the skill in the end come out better and that really helped me succeed in the end result. So far, she has gone over 13 skills with us in the span of a month, which is really good progress for tri-tech students. We have also all received two certificates. One of them is a disinfectant certificate and the other is a human trafficking certificate. We have also had a competition called Anything but Hair. She gave us our mannequins and told us that we and our partners had to get creative and find an object we could create to look like it was hair.

We had a whole month to work on this competition and to fit some creative ideas in. Some of the ideas that were thrown out were Pringles, Cheetos, flowers, leaves, newspapers, and many more things. Me and my partner had decided on sea shells which, in the end, had turned out what we had hoped for. The hard part of the competition was making the top 10 out of 20+ groups. I had gone into this competition not thinking we were gonna be part of the top 10 but just to have fun with it. Out of those 20+ groups, my partner and I’s mannequin made it to the top 10. Our teacher posted all the mannequins on their Instagram and let it run up until October 16th when she announced the winner of the competition.

Victoria’s Academy provides many educational courses that you can take to start off your career. They provide courses such as hair skills, basic life and employment skills and courses on how to set up your professional image. This is helpful in appearing more professional and bring in more clients. You also learn how to communicate better with the people you work with as well as the clients that you are working on. Overall, Victoria’s teaches you how to make a successful, healthy, and professional life for yourself. The training also includes about 5 competitions each year and sometimes fundraisers. This Academy amazes me every day with what they teach. Victoria’s keeps it educational but fun at the same time and I think that’s what’s so unique about this academy.
