The Arkham Asylum Batman game is the start to a trilogy of some of the best video games ever to be developed.
Batman Arkham Asylum is a solo story mode game that came out August 25, 2009 and was a game truly ahead of its time. In 2009, Batman won VGX Award for Best Studio of the year and IGN select Award for Best Newcomer. In 2010, Batman also won the BAFTA Games Award for Best Game and for best gameplay, it also received a game of the year addition.
The story starts off with Batman entering Arkham Asylum with The Joker in his custody, seemingly going to drop him off and get back to business as usual but Batman gets a weird feeling and decides to escort The Joker to his cell. Things take a turn for the worse when The Joker escapes as he had planned prior and Batman has to put a stop to him and his plans. Running into a plethora of his oppositions which he also needs to stop on the way to getting the joker under control.
Graphics and gameplay for the game felt refreshingly smooth and enjoyable to sit and play for the duration of the game. The fun gadgets and side missions made the experience immersive and highly enjoyable to play through. The different missions and characters made for hours of impeccable game play. The combat and stealth is really well done and just overall fun to do and easy to enjoy along with all of Batman’s gadgets and detective skills.
My personal favorite thing to do in the Batman Arkham Asylum game was to go through and complete all of The Riddler’s quests or riddles around the map. Although you could get stuck or confused, I always found it exciting when I would beat the Riddler and his riddles. The final mission was very unexpected and an interestingly cool way to end the game.
Overall, it is highly enjoyable and, depending on which difficulty setting you choose, a good challenge for the player. Definitely one of, if not, my favorite game I’ve ever played. If you are looking for a fun immersive game to get into this is the game, you will not be disappointed.
