Ah mornings! Some people are up bright and early and ready in no time, while others need just a little bit more time to tackle the day. But how much time do we really need to get ready in the morning? Managing time can be hard for everyone, but let’s see what students here at Pasco High tend to do to get ready in the mornings!
One interview I had was with a student named Max, here is his response: “On an average I usually spend an hour and a half getting ready, first I shower, eat breakfast, stretch, and meditate so that takes up quite a bit of time. Plus, if I want to sleep in I still need time to do things. Men and women definitely have different morning routines. Most men don’t have long hair that takes a while to style and tame and most don’t take much time for themselves. When it comes to girls though, girls need a bit to get ready, girls normally tend to care more about their looks and smell so they take their time to get ready to look good and presentable. Some tips and tricks I have for you is that you should prioritize being clean and having the headspace for the day and eating before leaving the house. Making sure you get enough sleep is the Number 1 key to getting up on time and not having the temptation to go back to bed. A smart way to go, is to charge your phone away from you as possible, so that you don’t stay on it all night and in the morning you’d have to get up to check it of course. I think the older you get the more time it takes to get ready, since you have more priorities. I follow a specific routine. I wake up first and stretch, shower, then tidy up my room, eat breakfast, meditate, and do homework until my mom is ready to take me to school for zero hour. weekends and weekdays time is very different because I don’t feel as much pressure to get up on weekends. I still do my things but on my own time. a major obstacle I face, is wanting to sleep in before school. This makes it harder for me to have a productive time as my time goes shorter. I need to really fix this and go to bed earlier haha.”
Getting up in the morning is definitely my biggest obstacle too! I agree with Max on this because I love my sleep and my bed is just too comfy in the morning.
Another interview I had was with a student named Ninnel. Here is what Ninnel had to say, “In the morning, I take about an hour and 10 minutes. The amount of time I spend getting ready are all based off of if I’ve planned my outfit or not and if I’ve washed my hair or not. Men and women for sure have to have a different morning routine style due to guys not caring what they look like, all men got to do is get up, brush their teeth and hair and they’re ready to go, meanwhile women actually take their time to perfect their looks. Some tricks I’ve learned for getting ready quickly is to have your clothes laid out before you go to sleep and set as many alarms as possible. As you get older, it takes much longer to do things in the morning and a lot more to do, but as a kid all you have to do is just wash up and get ready. I follow a routine always, it never changes, I wake up, I brush my teeth, style my hair, and put on my outfit. Weekends and weekdays are two different morning routines because on weekends I give myself a little bit more time to sleep in. On weekdays I feel more pressured to wake up and get ready faster so I can try to look presentable for school. Some obstacles to face in the morning for me are alarms, like I said before, alarms are important! But I manage to hit snooze every time and go back to sleep.”
I couldn’t have said it better about the alarms. I could also agree with Ninnel by saying that alarms are not helpful some mornings considering there’s a snooze option!
Getting up and planning out time is definitely hard to do. What I got from these interviews is that it should take at least an hour. What is your opinion? Let me know in the comments!
