With fall now ending and winter just around the corner, now is the time to grab a hot chocolate and come support Pasco High’s winter-season sports teams. For those who don’t really know what’s to come: here’s a (somewhat) quick preview of most of what the winter holds for us, sports-wise.
The boys’ basketball team is looking to make a comeback from last season in which they finished 1-20 in total. Unfortunately last year, however, many of the players on the Varsity team graduated, which means that this year’s squad will look completely different.
Of course, we also have the girls’ basketball team, they also had a similar record to the boys’ team, losing all 22 games that they played. We’ll see if they can turn it around this year, even if around half of the team were Seniors last year. Maybe, though, it’ll be a positive change and they’ll manage to come home with some wins for us.
We’ve also got competitive cheer coming up, which, according to one of the cheerleaders, Fuchi, is going to go pretty well. “We make it to state a lot.” She said. The squad has also of course had its fair share of practice during the football season so I think it’s safe to say that we’ll do OK (I don’t want to jinx it so I won’t say they’ll do awesome).
Then, we’ve also got a unique choice of sport, bowling. Unfortunately for the guys though, it’s only available for girls right now. I’d personally love to do bowling for the school, and I know a lot of others that do as well. “In middle school, I was hyped for bowling because, in my middle school, it was advertised as one of the sports you could do.” Said Eian Guevara. “My dreams were shot down.” I think a lot of us are hoping that it changes, but we still have to be happy for those who can play, as it is, objectively one of the best sports out there. And I’m sure their season will go well.
Then finally, regarding the famous Dance Team, we’ve got a lot of exciting things coming up this winter. They have been historically strong throughout a long period of time, being one of our best sports teams of all. Last year, they got very far in state competitions, and also, just a little more than a year ago, got to participate in America’s Got Talent. With that said, our Dance Team is looking to do really well, and it might be THE thing to look forward to.
So, if this didn’t get you pumped up enough for the season, you’ll have to come and see for yourself how the winter teams do. We’ve got a few good ones this year, and a lot of things to look forward to. Let’s go Bulldogs!
