The Class of 2026 is finally about to graduate after four years of high school. I went around and asked some seniors how they feel about Pasco High School (PHS) and their experiences overall. This article captures the curiosity of what they felt during their time at PHS and how they perceive their journey now as seniors, as they prepare to enter adulthood and embrace their bright futures. I am also a senior in the Class of 2026 this school year, so I will share my honest opinion after theirs. Let’s begin.
First, I asked Marshall Cardenas a couple of questions. The first question was, “How do you feel finally being a senior at PHS?” Marshall responded, “I feel very mature, as my time here at Pasco High has taught me a lot and shaped me into the person I am today.” The second question I asked him was, “What’s something you liked at PHS?” Marshall replied, “The memorable teachers and experiences with fellow classmates. Kent Neihold and Anna Hilly were two teachers who really pushed me to be my best.” Marshall’s reflections show how much growth can happen from being a freshman to becoming a senior.
Next, I spoke with Jayden Williams. I asked him, “How do you feel after four years at PHS?” Jayden replied, “I feel like I succeeded, but I also feel as if I wasted time because it all rolled up on me faster than I thought. But I feel relieved that I am still alive, lol.” When I asked him, “What’s something you liked at PHS?” he responded, “Something I enjoyed at PHS is the people along with the teachers, for example, Kent Neihold and Janelle Pratt.” It’s clear that Jayden has had some positive experiences.
Now, let’s move on to Lyllian Yñiguez. I asked her, “How was your experience at PHS?” Lyllian responded, “My experience at Pasco High was nice. It did get a bit boring at times, but some of the people are funny and nice. Although the rules may seem strict, they seem to be in place to help and benefit the students.” When I asked her, “What’s something you liked at PHS?” she replied, “I liked the events because of the thought and effort put into them, as well as the opportunities they offer.” It’s great to hear that some seniors found joy at PHS and enjoyed their time there.
Those were the responses from several seniors at PHS. As a senior myself, I’d like to share my experience. I honestly enjoyed attending this school, although my sophomore year was quite challenging, and I struggled to keep up with my work. My junior year, however, was a turning point for me; with the help of my friends, school became much easier and more enjoyable. Now that I am a senior, things have gotten tough again, but I’m doing my best to pass all my classes, even though many of my friends have already graduated. I’ve learned a lot from my senior friends last year, particularly that it’s possible to have fun and still graduate in high school. Overall, I’ve enjoyed being at PHS. Despite some unfair moments, I loved meeting new friends and creating lasting memories.
