Have you seen the popular “A Day in My Life” videos on social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram? In this article, I asked several students to share what a day in their lives looks like. Here’s what they had to say.
First, I spoke with Jayden W. When I asked him about a typical weekend, he said, “I would probably hang out with my friends or go to a party. If that doesn’t work out, I’d likely watch YouTube or play video games.” I then asked him what he includes daily in his life and why. Jayden replied, “I would say my car, because I use it every day and drive around with friends all the time.” That gives us a glimpse into Jayden’s life.
Next, I interviewed Perla S. When I asked her how she starts her weekend day, she responded, “I wake up, go to the bathroom, and brush my teeth. Then I go downstairs to see if my mother is home.” I also inquired about her typical school day. Perla shared, “I wake up at 5:15 a.m., brush my teeth, get my clothes ready for the day, and start my makeup at 5:40 a.m. I straighten my hair, get dressed, and go downstairs by 7:00 a.m. I leave for school at 7:18 a.m., stop by the school store to bother Tom while I wait for my cute little friend, Galoriela. We go to class at 7:37 a.m. My schedule includes Floriculture for first period, Environmental Science for second, the school store for third, lunch, Credit Recovery for fifth, and Pottery for sixth. I head home at 3:00 p.m.” That’s a little insight into Perla’s life.
Next, I spoke with Gabriela Garcia. When I asked her what a day in her life looks like, she replied, “I wake up and sit on my phone for 10 to 20 minutes. After that, I get up, take a shower, change, and get ready for school. I say goodbye to both of my dogs before driving to school, where I meet up with my friends, attend my classes, go home, take a nap, wake up, get ready for bed, and then go to sleep.” I also asked her about her morning routine. Gabriela said, “I wake up, open my eyes, get on my phone for 10 to 20 minutes, get up to hop in the shower, and then I get ready. I say goodbye to my dog and brother, have breakfast, and drink it while I drive to school, where I meet up with my friends.” That wraps up Gabriela’s day.
To finish, I’d like to share a bit about my own life. On a typical weekend, I usually wake up around 10 a.m. while on the phone with my boyfriend. I either wake him up by yelling into the phone or spam him with calls until he answers. I finally get up around 11 a.m., brush my teeth, eat breakfast, and then take a shower. After showering, I do my hair and skin care. Since it’s the weekend, I’ve figured out my plans for the day. Usually, it involves going to my boyfriend’s house to hang out, then dragging him along to shop because I have nothing else to do. Later in the day, I will see if there are any plans, like going out with friends or attending small parties. I go to those until my parents start spamming me to come home. After finally getting home, I get ready for bed.
