Minecraft is a video game which was made by Mojang Studios. It is played by all sorts of people. The game is a pixelated block game but at its core it is a sandbox game where you can do what you desire, and there really isn’t an end to it. Minecraft was officially released on November 11, 2011. It is played on most devices whether it’s mobile, console, or PC. It is loved till this day because of it’s diversity, you can choose what you want to do whether it’s progress, build, make weird machines, explore, and fight.
To start, you create a world in the game, either survival or creative. Survival is the way most go because it provides a challenge and everything you earn is rewarding because you worked for it. On top of that, you can make it even more challenging and choose hardcore which only gives you one life. If you die, you lose the world. On the other hand, Creative is a game mode where you have an inventory of everything in the game which is fun for some people because you can build whatever you want and overall do as you please, but for many this can get boring because there isn’t much value to what you do since you didn’t earn it.
Ultimately, everyone is different and has different reasons to play on each game mode.
“I like hardcore survival more because it more risky and exhilarating and you earn your materials and survive and there’s a risk and reward in every decision you make.,” said Miguel, a student at PHS. “Though I do like the creative freedom in creative and the commanding of command blocks for your own personal world. Overall, I mainly know Minecraft as a survival based game with a growing rate of potential creativity of coding and commanding.”
At first glance Minecraft might seem like a basic block game but even 15 years after its release it stands on one of the most popular games in the world. According to Game Stats (gamestats.fyi), Minecraft has about 16 million active daily users. People keep on coming back to it because there is no end to what you can do. On top of the basic things you can do like building, farming, PVP, and progressing. You can go even deeper than that and do things like starting a kingdom with your friends, challenge yourself to speed run and defeat the Ender Dragon (the final boss), build custom maps, and make or play mini-games.
To finalize, Minecraft is a great game for most people. At its core it encourages creativity more than most games, which is why it is loved by many and why it still stands highly even after 15 years. It is definitely worth playing.
