There is a game on Roblox that I enjoy playing from time to time called Forsaken, and for my final article, I wanted to give a review of it. I will be discussing actual gameplay and how the community interacts with each other.
Gameplay:
To start, the basic premise is that you play as either a survivor doing generators and wasting time while trying not to die to a killer or a killer trying to eliminate all of the survivors. You start as a Noob, and you can either switch to Elliot or Guest 1337 (you must buy the rest of the survivors with the money you earn from playing). You must utilize the survivor’s abilities to either prolong your survival or others’. If you’re being chased by the killer or you ARE a killer, you need to manage your stamina while running, because if you run out, you have 3 seconds before your stamina refills again.
For killers, you start with Slasher (previously Jason from Friday the 13th; they changed it because they were worried about a lawsuit), an entirely melee killer with various abilities. Killers are slightly faster than survivors, allowing killers to catch up if they aren’t smart.
Some players have a survivor they use the most (or their “main”), and they usually stick with it. Some players, like myself, switch from survivor to survivor depending on the situation. I personally enjoy using Shedletsky, a sentinel who can stun killers with his sword and eat chicken to heal himself if he’s low on HP. But if I want to play a support, I choose Elliot or Taph. If I’m having a particularly good day, I’ll switch to Guest 1337 to parry killer attacks.
I haven’t mastered any killers. I used to main Noli, an aggressive melee killer, and I tried 1x1x1x1, but neither really suited me. I’m trying John Doe, and he seems to be working out for me, so I’ll stick with him to see how it goes.
The Community:
It’s interesting to say the least. SOME players aren’t too beginner-friendly, as it’s difficult when you’re just starting as a survivor or a killer. It can get frustrating at times, especially if you get clowned on for not being able to land a hit on any survivors. There’s a STEEP learning curve, figuring out how your abilities work, how to effectively chase down survivors (or run away from killers). But some experienced players are actual godsends when it comes to helping you out as a support or protecting you as a survivor, and are willing to teach you how to play. But sometimes, you’ll have to teach yourself. There’s something satisfying about the sentinels effectively protecting an Elliot from a killer who decides to target them. It doesn’t happen often, but when it does, it’s sweet and usually leads to victory.
My Final Statement:
Forsaken is a very fun game, accessible to anyone with a Roblox account. I highly recommend it for those who enjoy Dead by Daylight. Die of Death is another game on Roblox similar to Forsaken, just more flimsy and buggy, and mostly for giggles.
