This soccer season, the Pasco bulldogs had a total of 11 seniors on the varsity team. This team goes beyond just soccer, it represents family, honor, and bravery. Some players have known each other for more than 10 years and will continue to be close as time goes. Five players were asked what their plans are for after high school to see how soccer can shape someone towards their future.
The questions asked were:
- What are your plans after high school?
- What is your dream job?
- What has been a big challenge you had to overcome in high school soccer?
Senior Joel Diaz:
- My plans after high school are to go to Walla Walla Community college and play soccer.
- My dream job is to be an electrician and own a business one day.
- A big challenge I had to overcome was struggling with confidence and feeling like I had the skill but did not know how to use it.
Senior Edwin Magallon:
- My plans after high school is work and help my mom out with whatever she needs help with.
- My dream job is to be a mechanic.
- Hardest challenge I had to face in high school soccer was keeping up with my grades.
Senior Alejandro Ramirez:
- My plans after high school are to try to get into the union.
- My dream job would probably be to be a professional athlete.
- My biggest challenge that I had to overcome in high school soccer was believing in myself and sometimes not having the confidence to play.
Senior Edwar Montano:
- My plans after high school are to keep studying in a university and keep playing soccer.
- My dream job is to be a physical education teacher to teach the knowledge I have learned over the years.
- A challenge I had to overcome was learning another language since my first language is Spanish. I had to adapt to things I was not used to.
Senior Jesus Gutierrez:
- I will be attending CBC here in Tri-Cities. I plan to play one year at CBC and then transfer out to a four year university to continue playing soccer while pursuing a financial degree focused on investments. If my soccer pathway were to be altered via injuries or logistical issues then I will pivot into astronomy as my career and become a full time student.
- My dream job is to be a professional soccer player, while my academic dream job is being an astronomer.
- My biggest challenge I had to face in high school soccer was injuries. I play all year round and that fatigue gets carried on into high school season so it brought about multiple tedious setbacks throughout my junior season and a bit towards the end of my senior season.
As school comes to an end, our seniors will have to move on to bigger and better things, leaving behind their mark and preparing for exciting challenges beyond just soccer. We wish them luck, with hope to hear big things from all of them in the future.
