Planned parenthood has been talked down on and misled on what it is purpose. Most of the time Planned Parenthood is thought to be a place that provides abortions, but many people cannot see beyond abortion care then at all the other health and support this organization gives. According to the Planned Parenthood website it said, “The essential health care services Planned Parenthood provides, like: STD testing and treatment, birth control, well-women’s exams, cancer screenings and prevention, abortion, hormone therapy, infertility services, and general health care.” Planned parenthood provides a substantial number of resources.

According to the Planned Parenthood website, “Planned Parenthood is the leading provider of high-quality, affordable health care for women, men, and young people, and the nation’s largest provider on of sex education.” This is important for young people to have access to, having a safe place to go for health care.

Planned Parenthood also provides hygiene and period products for low income and poverty level people. This may now seem especially important, but not having these products or not using the right ones can result in infection. People who live in poverty and have poor menstrual hygiene can result in physical health risks, has been linked to urinary tract infections and reproductive issues. Planned Parenthood gives these people the help and resources they need to prevent health issues.

According to the Planned Parenthood website it said, “For many, Planned Parenthood is their only source of care-making our health centers an irreplaceable component to this country’s health care system.” Not having this resource for those who have no other option is alarming. Health care as it is in this country is incredibly expensive, having a place that can give affordable health care is incredibly important. According to the Planned Parenthood website it has been estimated that about 360,000 would entirely lose access to care.
