Get to know the Welding Club!

Get+to+know+the+Welding+Club%21

Sparks fly and metal transforms under skilled hands. The welding club at Pasco High School is a group with dedication as well as craftmanship where students come together to shape their future or wanting to learn more about welding. The Welding Club has been around for three years and many students are intrigued about what the club has to offer. Mr. Munden, the metals shop teacher for four years at Pasco High created the club his second year of being at Pasco High School! Welding club is offered for FFA students as well as students who have metals technology and are willing to compete in contests during school hours! They make community projects such as boat anchors, fishhooks, lead trays, podiums and aluminum marine accessories then proceed to sell them for the funding of their club activities.

Isaiah Allen, a member of the team for 3 years now and also known for his impressive welding skills stated, “It’s a really good experience to be involved in, my favorite memory was when we won second place at the CBC welding competition.”

The Welding Club has students developing their welding techniques as well as working as a team to achieve what they are best at. “Being in the club and doing the competitions pushed me to having to practice either 7018 stick welding or mig welding thinner material so I gained more skills just practicing and being in the club helps you build leadership at competitions, also brightens your character. With being president of the club, I’m held to a higher standard by Munden because I’ve been there the longest and he knows I’m willing to do the work as I’m told” Isaiah announced.

Eric, a new member of the Pasco Highs Welding Club, commented, “I have been welding at Pasco High School since my Freshman Year. My love for welding and being in the shop progressed so I decided to join the welding club. I am just now starting my senior year and the little amount of experience I do have as of right now makes me wish I have started sooner.”

The welding club at Pasco High School is a fun experience and if you are interested in participating or wanting to learn more about welding, go talk to Mr. Munden about how to sign up and become more involved or email him @[email protected]. He is looking forward to meeting future members for his club so don’t be afraid to talk to him!
