AEW vs WWE
You may know a company by the name of WWE, World Wrestling Entertainment, but there’s another company called AEW, All Elite Wrestling. They both have almost the same things, but what differences do they have? Who gets better views/rates? What video games are more played and purchased? Which wrestlers are in each company?
“AEW is All Elite Wrestling, a professional wrestling promotion with weekly shows like Dynamite and Collision, a variety of pay-per-view events, and online content.” AEW was also made in 2019 by a WWE wrestler who left WWE to make AEW and went back to WWE. His name is “the American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes.
“World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) is the largest professional wrestling promotion in the world, combining athleticism, dramatic storytelling, and theatrical performance. Owned by the publicly traded TKO Group Holdings, WWE is a global media and entertainment company with an extensive history.” WWE started back in 1953 and was founded by Vince McMahon.
First, I wanted to see which company Pasco High would choose and why.
Alonzo Johnson answers this by saying he would choose WWE because “The plot for story lines is better and is easy to understand, meanwhile AEW wants you to puzzle it.”
Giselle Nav, also a fan of WWE, answers this question by saying she would choose WWE since she has only watched WWE and not any other company.
I first wanted to learn the number of views each company gets for each paper, weekly. The last Pay-Per-View of AEW was WrestleDream 2025, and the number of viewers was 801,000 people. The last WWE pay-per-view was WrestlePalooza 2025, which gained 2.6 million views. Weekly AEW has 477,000 viewers, and WWE has 1.4 million viewers. The biggest events they’ve had recently were WrestleMania 41 for WWE and AEW. The biggest event was Dynamite: Beach Break. WrestleMania 41 had 118,641 live fans for the first night, they had 58,538 on the second night, they had 60,103 fans. Dynamite: Beach Break had 3,882.
Both companies have made games for PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch. WWE makes a game with the company Visual Concepts and had a sale of 2 million copies in the first week. Yukes is the company that made the AEW games, in the first week AEW sold 500,000 copies in the first week. WWE 2k25 has a 3.2-star rating while AEW has a 2.9-star rating. The number of active WWE 2k25 players is approximately 1,375, while AEW has about 6-7 players in the last 30 days.
Plenty of Wrestlers from WWE moved to AEW for new chances and bigger paychecks. Many of them are popular wrestlers like Sting, The Big Show, Edge, Jon Moxley, Chris Jericho, Daniel Bryan, and Bobby Lashley. Plenty of Wrestlers are still stuck to WWE, wrestlers like John Cena, AJ Lee, Finn Balor, CM Punk, Dirty Dom, and Seth Rollins.
If lots of WWE wrestlers left, what was their reason in the first place? The reason why they left was for creative freedom, a lighter schedule, and better pay. The top wrestler from AEW gets paid 6 million dollars annually. While the top wrestler from WWE gets paid 15 million dollars annually and that being the tribal chief Roman Reigns.
The way to enter WWE “you must be at least 18 years old, have prior wrestling or elite athletic experience, and apply online through the WWE recruit portal. If your application is successful, you may be invited to a tryout. The tryout involves a rigorous workout, a verbal promo, and assessments of athleticism, charisma, and coachability. Selected candidates will then be offered an opportunity to join the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.” While to enter AEW is by “gaining experience on the independent wrestling circuit, generating buzz on social media, and developing a strong portfolio with a highlight reel.”
AEW has a big difference between them and WWE; WWE matches are calmer, still doing incredible moves, while AEW matches are violent and have 0 story storyline, and WWE has a storyline to their matches.
