You may have seen her or heard her name, or you may not know who she is, but that’s why I’m here to let you know what an amazing and interesting person Ms. Nunes really is, with only 10 questions!
Who are you in PHS?
-My name is Mrs. Nunez, and I am a Migrant Student Advocate.
What do you do?
-I have the privilege of supporting migrant students and families at PHS and removing barriers for them to be successful and reach their educational goals.
What has PHS given you?
-PHS has given me the opportunity to serve students and families in our community and help mold the next generation. It is something I do not take lightly. I strive to treat every student with respect and dignity, just as I would want someone to treat my own children. I have the opportunity to build positive relationships with students, and I truly enjoy it!
What made you choose this work?
-Younger me never thought I would work at a high school. When the opportunity presented itself, I knew this was where I wanted to be. It is a privilege to support and encourage high school students.
Where are you from?
I am from the west side of Washington, from a small town called Mount Vernon- also known as Tulip Town. I moved to Tri-Cities 8 years after getting married. I love it here and would not move back!
What’s your favorite thing to do each day?
– My favorite thing to do every day is drink coffee in the morning! And starting my day with gratitude, it brings me joy.
What’s your favorite color?
– My favorite color is mustard yellow because it reminds me of fall.
What are your favorite flowers?
– I am basic when it comes to flowers, I love simple red roses 🙂
What is your favorite food?
– Give me some sushi, and I am a happy girl 😊
What advice would you give to a freshman and a senior?
To the freshman starting school, I would say High School goes by fast, so get involved in school, choose your friends wisely, and show up; ask for help when you need it.
To the Seniors, remember you do not need your whole life planned out. You just need to know your next step! Choosing the harder path today often gives you more choices tomorrow. Also know there are people cheering you on that are always here to help … like Mrs. Nunez 🙂
