What is something people get wrong about you?
“Maybe because they think that I’m old, that I’m not very active, but I’m very active, I’m very much into participating and keeping my body moving all the time, and almost every day, I like to try to be as active as I can. I’m usually physical when I’m feeling good.”
What’s a skill that you learned outside of school that actually helps you a lot?
“I think that I just learned to read people, I probably learned that from school, but I could tell in a short time of meeting someone what they are about, like if they are good or bad, or if they have problems, or if they are fun to be around. I’m usually correct on my first impression after meeting so many students over the years, I can tell pretty quickly.”
What does success mean to you personally, not socially?
“Success to me is not having any conflicts with anyone in my life that I know, like with my family, with my students, with my friends, to not have anyone that is in conflict with me. That at least they could talk to me and I could talk to them and that we could get along.”
What’s a fear you think many people have, but they don’t talk about?
“I think people are afraid to admit they are wrong, when they need to apologize or when they need to fix something their afraid to put themselves out. many people say it but don’t mean it, I think people are afraid of getting rejected back and they really don’t wanna admit it.”
How long have you been teaching?
“I started in 1990, this is my 36th year of teaching. I’m hoping to go to 40 to make it even, so 2030 should be my last year, and I’ll be 65 too; that’s usually the age you get retirement.”
Where were you born?
“Othello Washington, it’s north of here, 50 miles away. There’s Pasco, and then there’s Ethiopia, and then Basin City, so I’m close to home.”
Where would you like to travel?
“Probably Europe, because in England I have my Davis family ancestors, so I would like to see the beauty of Europe, England, or France. There are mostly beautiful Cities there, like London, Paris, and also Spain.”
What college did you attend/graduate from?
“Central Washington University, very proud of it, and it was perfect. I studied physical education and mathematics.”
What’s your favorite food?
“Pretty much anything with shrimp, I love shrimp with many different kinds of combinations of food, and that’s my favorite kind of food.”
