Lack of school spirit

Lack of school spirit

It has been observed that students are not going to school sports games or participating in spirit week as often as they used to. Some students are saying that it is because our team stinks or that they have better things to do. Which are all valid reasons. But according to Mr. Hockaday he thinks that the excuses are just because the school lacks school spirit. Just think about it, when was the last time you saw someone dress up for Pajama Day. Or any other spirit day. That lack of school spirit may be demoralizing our players and will have a domino effect that will make us lose more games which will cause fewer people to attend and so on. Alex Flores a senior at Pasco high says, “people did have school spirit but all of it was most likely lost during the recent Covid shut down.”

Since all our school spirt was sucked out during the COVID shutdown the enemy team will see that the home side has not that many people in the stands cheering them on, they will think that the team sucks   and not take the team seriously and wipe the floor with us. If you ask the coaches of Pasco High, they will say that the lack of audience is demoralizing their players and setting low expectations for everyone therefore making the game or event boring for everyone attending and even for the players and we would not want that.

Therefore, you might want to consider going to some sports games and participating in spirit weeks at least once in your high school career to boost school morale and show some support to our athletes. It will give them that push in the right direction to make them win some crucial games and show some bulldog pride and show them what Pasco High can do!
